Cosmic Records Listening Session at Heath (TST)

Join us for a rare listening experience on Friday May 22nd from 7:30-9:30pm at The Garage, Heath centrally located in TST.

The term ‘cosmic’ first originated as a way to describe an approach and style of DJing in the ’80s in a niche Italian scene. DJs would mix records from clearly different genres, searching more for a ‘mood’, and especially bringing in percussion-oriented and tribal records from Africa, mixed into slowed down trance, and oddball synth-pop records. A cosmic approach to DJing has since modernized in a more globally connected, but still niche underground scene, concentrated around festivals and projects such as Camp Cosmic, Listen Listen, and DJs running edit labels and projects such as Mori Ra from Japan. We would like to introduce our definition of and approach to Cosmic Records through a special listening session, led by Ani Phoebe, co-founder of Bad Times Records and Bad Times Disco.

From May 8-27, 2026, Bad Times Disco is hosting an exhibition featuring a group show of diverse artists that produce, attend, and make up the culture and life of this community-oriented party. Throughout the month, there is a calendar of community-led events within the exhibition space.
