Technics SL-1200/SL-1210 Toroidal Transformer Upgrade / Voltage Conversion

This upgrade replaces the antique laminated-core transformer in your SL-1200/SL-1210 with a modern toroidal transformer to improve the sound quality. It is compatible with all SL-1200/SL-1210 models up to the MK5(G). Japanese and American 120V single-voltage models can also be converted to run on 230V.

Advantages of this modification:

  1. The modern toroidal transformer is precisely sized to ensure consistent output power, even in the most demanding situations.
  2. It generates less mechanical vibration, reducing the turntable’s noise floor.
  3. The radiated magnetic field is significantly reduced, lowering magnetic noise pickup by the cartridge.
  4. Japanese models (protected only by a secondary-side fuse) will receive a 2nd fuse on the primary side of the transformer for improved electrical protection.
  5. Optional: 120V models can be converted to 230V and then operated directly from a Hong Kong outlet without an external transformer.
