How To DJ On Vinyl (For Beginners)

Bad Times Records presents a monthly workshop series ‘How To DJ On Vinyl’ featuring different skill levels. This workshop series will prioritize electronic music, but is also open to mixing different genres including organic/band produced older music.

This will be a personalized and tailored group class with a maximum capacity of 4 people per workshop. For this beginners workshop, Bad Times Records co-founder and music director Ani Phoebe will guide participants into the journey of mixing on vinyl.

Participants will learn:

• How to cue records
• How to count BPM of records
• Syncing up compatible records to mix
• Practicing beatmatching (prioritizing electronic music genres, particularly club music)
• How to continuously dig for records on Discogs/record stores and more

Participants will receive:

• 1 record (up to 100HKD value) that they have practiced mixing during class to take home
• 1 drink (alcoholic/non-alcoholic options) to enjoy during class
