Living Wage Campaign Panel

Event Location:

Shop S15C, Heath Hong Kong

Since 2023, Bad Times Disco has teamed up with Asian Migrants’ Coordinating Body (AMCB) and International Migrants’ Alliance Asia (IMA-Asia) to partner on the Living Wage campaign, a migrant domestic worker-led campaign to increase the Minimum Statutory wages for Foreign Domestic Helpers as stipulated by the Labour Department. In addition to an increase in the minimum wage, migrant workers are also demanding improved labor conditions and raising awareness about the low minimum wage for non-migrant workers and the high cost of living in Hong Kong. They are building an inclusive labor movement with care at the center, making sure that Hong Kong not only values its most vulnerable and marginalized workers, but also everyone.

On Sunday, 19 May 2024, we will be holding a panel with members from AMCB, IMA, and Bad Times Disco to discuss the ongoing Living Wage Campaign, campaign updates, and planning goals for this year. This will be a snapshot of current labor organizing in Hong Kong, there will be Filipino food provided to the audience, and also Living Wage zines and stickers for sale to raise funds for the campaign.

Date: 19 May 2024
Time: 3-5pm
Location: Bad Times Records, Shop 15C, Heath
Filipino food to share will be provided
Donations appreciated for the campaign, please buy zines and stickers!

Independent note: Bad Times Records is an independent record shop promoting community, culture, and music history in Hong Kong. Please support them by buying records and drinks in-store; refrain from bringing outside drinks into the shop. Thank you!
