Panthee Feeling
Event Location:
Shop S15C, Heath Hong Kong
Get into the Panthee Feeling as we take you through a selection of Burmese music from the early 80s to late 90s!
(Re)discover Burmese grooves through the likes of May Sweet’s funky dance covers and Naw Lizar’s disco classics. There will be a short sharing session about Myanmar’s ‘copy thachin’ culture that originated in the early 70s and persisted well into the 2000s – a significant phenomenon that shaped the country’s pop music industry across its formative decades.
Join us for the evening to revel in Burmese pop nostalgia and sample an assortment of homemade Burmese dishes and snacks for an enriching experience of a culture that we’ve lived, loved, and envisioned futures of; after all, that’s what the Panthee Feeling’s all about.
Thachin Archive (@thachin.archive) is a curated collection of Burmese music informed by a personal penchant for forgotten funk and familiar melodies. Woven together by threads of nostalgia, Thachin Archive was born out of a desire to share such sentimentalities through Burmese music that spans the late 70s to early 2000s. We invite anyone interested to follow along and (re)discover Burmese music and its global influences together!
