Happy STEPS day!!
We are so excited to be back on the STEPS tomorrow, at our new home La Cabane Wine Cellar, with a full on lineup for you. We are bringing you Justroc, a great vinyl DJ we have hosted at our record store multiple times already, founder of the ROCKDANCE 852 crew and a great rockdancer himself. We will also have Bubble M back on the decks, always loved for her sunny citypop and cantopop more '80s oriented selection. Last but not least, Ani Phoebe will be opening and closing out the day, playing a great selection of recent digs from the sold out Bad Times Disco party in Singapore, and recent 12" favorites prepared for a busy month of gigs and parties ahead in March.
This time, Primo Posto will be the STEPS' food partner, offering a special pop up menu of meatball snacks, with a veggie option also available!
As always, you'll be able to listen to the records using our player inside, dig through all of our (updated and restocked!) crates, ask us for specific recommendations, and try some new bottles of natural wine at La Cabane.
For those of you who also follow and attend our sister project Bad Times Disco, and are looking for a more adventurous dancefloor, you should definitely come to the next BTD which is in a secret location in Kowloon (MTR accessible), has a great lineup of selector DJs including our special guest The Vigilante coming in all the way from Mumbai, India, and will also feature custom set design expressing our theme.
Abhi Meer aka The Vigilante is a Bombay based musician, DJ and ethnomusicologist whose mixing style has been deemed reminiscent of DJing's golden past. In the last decade, Abhi has sidestepped the attention economy to instead confront the erasure of indigenous voices and the flattening of our collective musical histories. Abhi is extremely dedicated to supporting Bombay's independent and underground cultural scene, having founded WHYDJ, an educational initiative that reimagines 'DJing as Sonic Weaponry' and 'Music as Communical Technology'.
Phase I tickets are on until March 12th, 11:59pm, and we offer a Group Buy discount of Buy 4 Get 1 Free for all the Crime Syndicate groups out there :)
